Education in the Erzgebirge

The people who live in the Erzgebirge can teach you how to sensibly combine theory and practice – indeed, the idea is, “Thought. Done”. This begins early on in school. By means of the close cooperation between educational institutions and businesses, students in the Erzgebirge can obtain their first practical experiences before choosing their future profession. Both the highly trained workers of the future and regional companies benefit from this cooperation.

The moment Adam Ries founded his mathematics school in Annaberg, the people of the Erzgebirge became contenders. The range of educational institutions extends from grammar school to vocational school. The Erzgebirge is also a place for study. With the University of Cooperative Education in Breitenbrunn, the College of Applied Arts in Schneeberg and the University of Technology Bergakademie Freiberg, the region simultaneously offers three different types of schools of higher education. Thus, every individual can design his or her university studies based upon personal goals and interests.

Education will also play a prominent role in the future in the Erzgebirge. In this way, we can ensure that the region will continue to be the home of clever minds.
